Ella Sweater Knitting Pattern

Ella Sweater Knitting Pattern

The Ella Sweater is a classic Raglan design. With a neat crew neck folded collar, and long ribbing at the cuffs and hem, it is an oversized staple that you’ll reach for again and agin. Ella has a dropped armhole for extra room and drape, making this classic sweater design infinitely wearable and versatile.

Knit from the top down, the collar is cast on using a Provisional Cast-on method, then folded in place. From here the sweater is knit from collar to hem, in the round. Short rows across the tops of the sleeves and the back neck shape the neckline so it fits neatly. The rate at which you increase on the raglan seams changes as you knit towards the armholes, creating a shapely fit. Once the body of the sweater is complete, the sleeves are picked up and decreases are made so that the wrists fit nicely.
